This file is marked CELL STORIES and contains reference and research materials on the following people: Thompson Bain, Colin Wade, Cornelis Broeksma and Tom Visser, the Foster Gang, and General Christiaan de Wet. Thompson Bain was incarcerated at the Fort in 1900 for siding with the Boers and in 1914 for his involvement in labour strikes. Colin Wade was incarcerated for his involvement in the 1913 Strike. Both Cornelis Broeksma and Tom Visser were arrested for sending coded message criticizing the British during the Anglo-Boer War. Broeksma was accused of treason and executed at the Fort. General Christiaan de Wet was imprisoned for his role in the 1914 Rebellion. |
