► E1.8.2.5.2 :: Caption: With her impassioned speeches and dedicated effosts Cissie Gool gave many coloureds and blacks hope for a better life. Her father, Abdullah Abdurahman, formed the African People's Organisation in 1905, which sought to engage the white government of the day via meetings and petitions. As president of the National Liberation League, Gool adopted a more aggressive style, using protest marches and mass meetings. Here, she is addressing a meeting, using her formidable oratorical skills to command the audience's attention. Date unknown.
