This is a transcript of the TRC Section 29 in-camera inquiry of Mr Charles Wanasi, held in East London on 6 April 1998.
This record covers Mr Wanasi's time in the Transkei Security Police, and his interactions with askaris. it also covers his perjury at an inquest (to protect askari identity), and his subsequent career which includes two alleged assassination attempts.
This record was released by the Department of Justice in response to Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request SAH-2013-DOJ-0003.
The first release of this record on 2015/01/12 had redactions on: p.16-18; p. 21-22; p.26; p.36. The subsequent release on 2015/12/17 by DOJ was a clean copy.
