Description: This is a transcript of the TRC Section 29 in-camera inquiry of Jacobus Jacobs, held in Johannesburg on 9 June 1997. The record is in English however Jacobs responses have been translated from Afrikaans. Record covers senior superintendent Jacobs role in the arrest of Themba Xhosa, a police informant, who was arrested for the possession of firearms. It discusses the forging of statements. It also discusses the secret funds car in which the weapons were found. The relationship between Themba Xhosa as a police informant and the security branch is discussed along with the link to the Sebokeng massacre. This record was released by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ) in response to Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request SAH-2013-DOJ-0003. The first release of this record on 2015/01/12 had Redactions on: p.4-5; p.11-12; p.36. The subsequent release on 2015/12/17 by DOJ was a clean copy.
