Description: |
This is a transcript of the TRC Section 29 in-camera inquiry of Michael Adriaan van den Berg, held in Durban on 3 October 1997. Van den Berg was a logistics officer for the South African Defence Force, and this transcript investigates his knowledge of Operation Marion; and the allegation that it operated as a sanctioned Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) 'hit squad'. He acknowledges that the term "hit squad" and "paramilitary" were used when discussing Operation Marion. This record was released by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in response to Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request SAH-2013-DOJ-0003. |
