Description: This is part five of the Security Legislation Directorate (SLD) file (file number 2/4/2/121) on the United Democratic Front (UDF) in terms of internal security: control of organisations. This file was opened on 15 May 1986 and closed on 11 July 1986 and contains among others correspondence and other documents of the South African Police and the Directorate of Security Legislation on the subject of the appointment of an advice committee; the consideration by the Directorate of Security Legislation to declare the UDF and the South African Council of Churches (SACC) affected organisations in terms of the Affected Organisations Act, 1974 (Act 31 of 1974); a fact-finding report on the UDF; a report on the distribution of UDF pamphlets; a memorandum on the UDF for the Eminent Persons Group (EPG); South African Police security report, including a list of organisations affiliated to the UDF; a report on the visit by the Commonwealth delegation, and an analysis of the UDF journal 'Isizwe. The documents are dated 1986. All the documents are photocopies. These copies were released by the National Archives in respect of PAIA request number 2011-0127-NAR.
