Description:	This is part 8 of 10 records that discuss the plane crash of President Samora Machel. This is a transcript of the TRC in-camera inquiry of Anton Uys, held in Cape Town on 4 June 1998. Uys was the security policeman in charge of the crash investigations from this division. He managed the security branch at Komatipoort and also managed the Nkomati Centre after 1984. On the night of the crash he was called at 2am and subsequently arrived on the scene. He states a doctor was present; he also states he felt it was his duty to gather up loose sheets of information at the crash site, and copy them as well as help identify the body of President Samora Machel. This record was released by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in response to the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request SAH-2013-DOJ-0003.
