Description: This is part 5 of 10 records that discuss the plane crash of President Samora Machel. This is a transcript of the TRC Section 29 in-camera inquiry of Mossie Basson, held in Cape Town on 4 June 1998. Mossie Basson was in charge of electronics warfare operations in the airforce. The record also confirms that SA radar had the capacity to monitor flights beyond their borders; as well as the fact that mobile airfield equipment did exist and that both listening (inert) and transmission (active) signal devices operated from land-rovers, which has relevance to the overall investigation. This record was released by the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in response to Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) request SAH-2013-DOJ-0003.
