Abstract: |
The Anti-Privatisation Forum (APF) collection consists of paper-based documents, digital documents and photographs, posters, ephemera (banner, t-shirts, stickers), and audio-visual materials on the South African social movement, collected by Dale McKinley. Organisational materials include policy documents, minutes of meetings, funding documents, workshop materials and press releases. Materials relating to campaigns against privatisation include documents, reports, articles, booklets, pamphlets, flyers and newspaper clippings on water and electricity struggles against prepaid meters; evictions; Growth, Employment and Redistribution (GEAR); Coalition Against Water Privatisation (CAWP); Coalition Against Xenophobia (CAX); World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD); Social Movements Indaba (SMI); Anti-War Coalition, and affiliates such as the Soweto Electricity Crisis Committee (SECC), Bophelong Community Development Forum (BOCOSFO), Evaton West Community Crisis Committee (EWCCC), Kathorus Concerned Residents (KCR); Soweto Concerned residents (SCR), Tembalihle Crisis Committee, Vaal Community Forum (VCF), Working Class Crisis Committee (WCCC), Wynberg Concerned Residents (WCR), Rammolutsi Rehatammoho Crisis Committee (RRCC), Phiri Concerned Residents and Orange Farm Water Crisis Committee.(OFWCC)
The oral history collection consists of interviews (audios and transcripts) with selected APF and associated community affiliate leaders, activists and members, conducted by Dale McKinley and Ahmed Veriava in 2010 as part of the South African History Archive’s (SAHA’s) APF oral history project.
