This is a transcript of the interview with Richard Dube, conducted by Mary Ndlovu on 29 November 2010 for the South African History Archive (SAHA) as part of the Zenzo Nkobi oral history project. As military commander of ZPRA operations, Richard Dube describes training in Tanzania and Soviet Union, and his role as instructor. He describes the death of Mangena and comments on his leadership. He also gives detailed descriptions of some operations and relations with villagers in the country, and provide explanations for the Turning Point strategy, reconnaissance in the country, and the beginning of implementation. He further refers to the Feira battle and gives his opinion on the significance of ZPRA’s role. The interview was transcribed by Mary Ndlovu.
