GALLERY: Commemorating Human Rights Day with posters

"Celebrating 20 years of changing lives through human rights" is the theme for this year's Human Rights Day, a South African public holiday commemoratng the Sharpeville massacre of 21 March 1960 at which people were shot for peacefully protesting against  unjust pass laws of the time.

Produced before the dawn of democracy, posters from the SAHA Poster Collection (AL2446) remain relevant today, serving as a stark reminder that, as we approach the twentieth anniversary of South Africa's first democratic elections, the struggle for basic human rights still continues for many living in South Africa today.
