PAIA Civil Society Network to be launched in 2009

The Freedom of Information Programme (FOIP) has identified a great need for the establishment of a PAIA Civil Society Network. FOIP has received a positive response from key organisations involved in access to information and will host the initial meeting of the Network in the first quarter of 2009.

The purpose of Network is to assist Public and Private bodies as well as to support and enable Civil Society. Proposed activities include: sharing information; working together strategically towards successful implementation of PAIA; gap analyses; providing service providers with more structured and thorough feedback on the implementation of PAIA outside of government analyses; sharing lessons learnt; and coordinating/collaborating response to key issues related to relevant Policy/Law reform and significant events.

Further details concerning the Network will be provided in early 2009. If you are interested in joining the PAIA Civil Society Network please contact either Charlotte Young or Fritz Schoon.
